Sorry... And--you're welcome???  Only read on if you care to know boring marketing details.  Like how I have MY SECOND FIRST THURSDAY SHOW IN ROW! (yeah, I yelled that at you) Because I am so excited-- making my (long) trek to the other side of the river. After showing my art in Portland for nearly 7 years I have finally made the switch from showing on the strees of Alberta (which was an awesome place to start) and hanging at everywhich coffee shop on the eastside, to my first gallery show across that big 'ol river, Willamette.

So here are the Juicey Beets ( that was supposed to say deets, but I think juicey beets sounds better.)

The Show and Tell Gallery will be featuring my art for the month of December.

New stuff on etsy

I have some new stuff on etsy... I have been busy working on new birds... These, I LOVE!

  
I guess that is it for now about that... I am working on being a responsible artist and trying to keep up on the marketing as well as the making of my art. THE MAKING IS EASY!!! The Marketing, NOT so much! I have a hard time with this because,l well, it's boring and it is hard for me to do boring.

If you are an art agent or a marketing wiz, write to me I am looking to delegate some of these responsibilities off to someone whom is good at it.

Until then I will be announcing events and new works here... Hang in there, and bare with me for the meat... I promise real meat in the near future.

Paintings for a blog friend

Here are a couple of commissions I did for a blog friend, since these little cuties will never get their 15 minutes of fame... And by fame I mean hanging out in the land of coffee shops and cafes being ogled and awegled at by the patrons of these bustling establishments... For many of my paintings this is their daily grind... Not a bad job if you ask me... I would love to hang out at a coffee shop all day long.

 I did these two paintings for Pollywog's Cakewalk...Thank you Sally for ordering up these lovely little paintings for Wren and Violet... I had a lovely time making them.

Art in Real Life...

I have a show at Sip and Kranz, it is an awesome kid friendly coffee spot in the Pearl... If you like my little samplings of paintings here on my blog and the random scatterings, hither and tither on the internet,  you should go check my art out in real life! It is much better that way!... If I don't say so.
 

Playing in the rain

So we are outta the house and in to the rain!  Being sick is no fun at all but being well is a blast!... I just hope this doesn't make us sick again. But then I am not one to believe that playing in the rain is what makes you sick. We live in the Northwest we have to play in the rain it is what we do for nine months out of the year. Now staying inside for nine months, that is what makes you sick.  One week and I was sick... Sick of being inside. We picked up a couple of our favorite peeps and headed out to Krugers Farm for a magical afternoon.
Here are the boys before they realized the fun that was about so ensue... Just testing the waters.

 Kruger's is out on Sauvie's Island in the middle of the Colombia River. This is where we and ran around in the middle of a giant muddy field in the pouring rain... For nearly three hours and didn't even get wet!?!... No, just kidding, WE GOT DRENCHED!
We saw chickens, pigs and "drove" tractors...

I loved our adventure... Besides all of the mud and muck-us ruckus, which was SO fun, there were endless nature treasures to behold as well.  Here is the sweetest pair of blossoms perking up the brown and orange tangles of left over summer raspberrys ... The only two on a half mile fence. 

Here I am...

as a dude. I was a dude for Halloween.

Here is how this story goes...

I was in my studio, wearing this exact outfit (my painting clothes)... When I stumble upon some charcoal... The rest is pretty much obvious... Other then why in the world I would randomly start drawing on my face with chard willow bark. 

So here goes my thought process...

I was working, it was about 10:pm... I was alone in my studio as my studio mate Sarah, was out like a responsible Halloween spirited soul, getting all decked out to Party.

I on the other hand, have a kid and a husband that I volley time, production, work and domesticity back and forth with... This leaves no practical space for such nonsensical play as Halloween flim-flam.

I was taking a bit of a break when I got the notion to button up my top button, draw myself a mustache , and call myself a Dude. It made me crack up hysterically to think that if Sarah had to stop buy the studio for some last minute piece of costume, and I was just in there working away all dressed up as a guy like nothing was going on... I would just die, I would think it were the funniest thing... She would think I was a total freak to dress up for no one, but it would be worth it. That is a price I'ld be willing to pay.

So I prepared myself for the off chance that someone, anyone... Sarah, would stop by and we would laugh and pee our pants over it all.  But after I was all done up I thought my handy work was just too good to waste, if no one were to ever stop by.  So I called up the gals, told them I had a really pretty costume and showed up looking like this.

 I blew their fucking minds, I truly did. They died laughing and then their ghosts asked if they could make out with me... Hell could ya blame um, I kinda wanted to make out with myself!

All Better!

  A few posts ago I talked about how I wished my art job was my money job... Well... Guess what. Now it is!  I have not been around to blog or do anything else really besides work and take care of my poor sweet little Ree-Beez, he has been So sick for the past two weeks... An awful bug! He has had high fevers and not been eating and he threw up for the first time, real barf--GROSS!... And sad... MOSTLY SAD!!! As he was throwing up he was looking at me confused, shocked and betrayed. Like, "what the hell is this happening to me? What is going on here? Why didn't you tell me about this? Why aren't you stopping it?... MOM!?! It has been a rough couple of weeks, lots of whining and lethargic sleepy, indoor movie watching... But I did appreciate all of the snuggles that came with my little sicky Beez ickies.

So this has been the scene around home lately. But not to worry, He is all better, a full recovery has been made and he is back on track with his crazy ways! And Yes! Thank god we can go back out side again!

So now back to the work... I got a freelance job being "the Artist" for a new company, a coffee shop. I am doing all of the creative developing, branding, logo design and sign-age! I really am loving it! And the owner is awesome and respectful and confident in my work.  I really like her, I think it really is just a great fit. And the best part is that I am getting paid, my skills are paying the bills!  What is also cool, is that many aspects of this project are achieved through fine art methods- I am actually making and building the look of the place with my hands--not graphic design and then digital reproductions-- But me the artist painting the adds and signs and marketing tools- I feel like I am in old France and I am an actual respected artist of the community- like being an artist is actually a respectable career!  So I have been in the studio non-stop working on stuff for the new shop. It is all coming together and it is gonna really super duper cool when I am done... I can't let any more of the deets out, because it is still in the bag right now but when I am finished and the coffee shop opens, I will tell you all and if you live in the area you will have to go check it out. Until then, I am happy to be blogging this right now, but if you don't here from me as soon as may be responsible... Just know it is for good reason, AND I WILL BE BACK! Promise.
